This is our first year buying coffee from Abelardo. We discovered his coffee through our buying project in southern Huila, and look forward to working more closely together next season. In the cup we find a sparkling Pink Bourbon profile of lemonade, blueberry, and hibiscus.

This is our first year purchasing coffee from Abelardo. We discovered his coffee with the help of our exporting partner, Osito, as we continue to explore southern Huila and the Pink Bourbon now being grown there. We will return to Colombia this fall to continue calibrating with the Osito QC team and hopefully meet in person with all the producers we have recently begun to work with.
Pink Bourbon is a relatively new variety being grown primarily in and around Huila, Colombia. The variety has been identified genetically as an Ethiopian Landrace, but unfortunately, we cannot be any more specific as to its origins until there is a larger genetic database.
The cost of getting a coffee from cherry to beverage varies enormously depending on its place of origin and the location of its consumption. The inclusion of price transparency is a starting point to inform broader conversation around the true costs of production and the sustainability of specialty coffee as a whole.
