Ricardo is the first producer we've worked with in the region of Algeciras, Huila, and his Gesha lot that we released earlier this year was a stunner! In the cup we find Rainier cherry, Key lime, and blueberry.

Ricardo Silva comes from a place in Huila that we are pretty unfamiliar with: Algecrias. We get quite excited about regions, varieties, and all things that make up terroir in coffee, so it's been remarkable to find a new region in Huila from which we've never purchased coffee. It is a reminder that so many producers with extraordinary potential are still to be discovered. Expect to see more coffee from Algecrias in the future!
Pink Bourbon is a relatively new variety being grown primarily in and around Huila, Colombia. The variety has been identified genetically as an Ethiopian Landrace, but unfortunately, we cannot be any more specific as to its origins until there is a larger genetic database.
The cost of getting a coffee from cherry to beverage varies enormously depending on its place of origin and the location of its consumption. The inclusion of price transparency is a starting point to inform broader conversation around the true costs of production and the sustainability of specialty coffee as a whole.
