This is our first year working with Ludivia Luna’s coffee. We have released a number of Aruzi selections over the years, but it remains a variety we are still getting to know—and our exploration has only just begun. In the cup we find ripe plum, white grape, and hibiscus.
Aruzi
La Plata, Huila
1,900 masl
October 2025
Hand-picked at peak ripeness. Floated to further remove defects. Held in-cherry overnight. De-pulped. Dry-fermented for 36 hours. Washed. Dried on raised beds until moisture content reaches 10.5%.
This is our first year working with coffee produced by Ludivia Luna, specifically this Aruzi separation. We have released only a handful of Aruzi selections over the years, but it remains a variety we are deeply interested in and eager to explore further. We are grateful to our partners in Colombia for helping us discover this one.
Only a few samples of Aruzi have been genetically sequenced, and the results have been too varied to draw any definitive conclusions. Further testing is planned, and we hope to have more answers by next harvest.
The cost of getting a coffee from cherry to beverage varies enormously depending on its place of origin and the location of its consumption. The inclusion of price transparency is a starting point to inform broader conversation around the true costs of production and the sustainability of specialty coffee as a whole.
